Cakes
The word "cake " is derived from the Old Norse word "kaka", which means "flatbread" .They were flat and dry, and often had fruit or nuts added to them for flavor.
Interestingly, the ancient Egyptians were the first culture to exhibit baking skills. The Greak also had an early from of cheesecake, while the romans developed versions of fruitcakes with raisins, nuts and other fruits.
